Invoicing and E-receipt for Tradespeople in Hungary — Ready for September 2026

From 1 September 2026, tradespeople in Hungary — plumbers, electricians, gas engineers, HVAC technicians, and general builders — who work for private clients must issue electronic receipts (e-nyugta) instead of paper ones. Bizonylat's Starter plan (2,990 HUF/mo) covers both e-receipt and e-invoice workflows, works on mobile, and requires no cash register hardware.

The e-receipt obligation for tradespeople

From 1 September 2026, the e-receipt obligation covers any business that sells to private individuals and previously issued paper receipts without a cash register. This includes:

  • Electricians (high and low voltage)
  • Plumbers and sanitary installers
  • Gas engineers and heating installers
  • HVAC and refrigeration technicians
  • General builders and construction workers

Failure to comply can result in NAV penalties. An approved e-receipt software solution (like Bizonylat) is a valid alternative to a cash register — no hardware purchase needed.

On-site e-receipts and e-invoices — on your phone

Tradespeople typically finish jobs at the client's home or site. Bizonylat works on mobile, so you can issue the document right there:

  1. Open Bizonylat on your phone.
  2. Select: e-receipt (private client) or e-invoice (company client).
  3. Enter the amount, items, and payment method.
  4. Tap "Issue" — the system submits to NAV automatically.

The client receives their document by email, or can access it via the NAV mobile app.

VAT handling for trade work

VAT rates depend on the type of work and who the client is:

  • Private client — typically 27% VAT. Certain home renovation work may qualify for 5% VAT (VAT Act §86). Consult your accountant for the exact classification.
  • Corporate client (subcontracting) — reverse VAT (0%, "Fordított adózás" notation). Bizonylat handles this with a dedicated template.

Frequently asked questions

Do tradespeople need to issue e-receipts from September 2026?

Yes. If you work for private clients and previously issued paper receipts, you must switch to electronic receipts (e-nyugta) from 1 September 2026. Bizonylat's Starter plan (2,990 HUF/mo) includes this.

Can I issue an e-receipt on my phone at the job site?

Yes. Bizonylat is a mobile-friendly web app — it works on any phone, tablet, or laptop. You can issue an e-receipt or e-invoice on the spot, in front of the client.

What's the difference between a private client and a corporate client?

Private clients receive an e-receipt (e-nyugta, mandatory from September 2026). Corporate clients receive an e-invoice (e-számla) submitted to NAV Online Invoice. Bizonylat handles both from the same account.

How does Bizonylat handle VAT for trade work?

Standard trade work is subject to 27% VAT. For subcontracting work on real estate between two VAT-registered businesses, reverse VAT (fordított ÁFA) applies — Bizonylat handles this with a dedicated template.

How does my accountant access my invoices?

The Starter plan includes an accountant invite — your accountant can log in directly, view all invoices, and export data without you sending files.

Can I try it free?

Yes. The Free plan (0 HUF/mo) includes 10 invoices with no credit card required. The e-receipt feature is available from the Starter plan (2,990 HUF/mo).
