Invoicing for Sole Traders in Hungary — NAV-Compliant, Flat-Rate Tax Ready

As a sole trader (egyéni vállalkozó) in Hungary, NAV compliance is non-negotiable: every invoice must be reported to the Online Invoice system in real time, and from September 2026, e-receipts are mandatory for B2C transactions too. Bizonylat automates all of this — NAV reporting, e-invoice delivery, and e-receipt issuance — so you can focus on your work, not on paperwork.

What to look for in invoicing software as a sole trader

  • Automatic NAV Online Invoice reporting — check this is included on the free or entry plan, not only premium tiers.
  • Flat-rate tax (átalányadó) support — the software should handle VAT exemption notation or the correct VAT rate automatically.
  • E-receipt from September 2026 — if you serve private customers, this will be mandatory.
  • Accountant access — most accountants prefer direct access over emailed files.
  • Mobile-friendly — many sole traders invoice on-site with a phone.

Bizonylat covers all of these. The Free plan covers the first four; the Starter plan (2,990 HUF/mo) adds e-receipts and 300 invoices per month.

Flat-rate tax invoicing in Bizonylat

Flat-rate tax (átalányadó) is a simplified tax regime popular with Hungarian sole traders. From an invoicing perspective, the key differences are:

  • VAT-exempt (alanyi adómentes) sole traders: invoices carry 0% VAT and the notation "Mentes az adó alól" (exempt from VAT). Bizonylat applies this automatically.
  • VAT-registered flat-rate traders: the correct VAT rate (5%, 18%, or 27%) is applied per line item.

For tax filing questions specific to the flat-rate regime, consult your accountant — Bizonylat provides the data, but does not give tax advice.
